Rebecca Rye's signature process, combining misty watercolors on kitakata paper with encaustics and alcohol inks makes each piece wholly unique. Each painting goes through multiple iterations of change, with wax covering and fading colors and worlds below the surface. The final painting glows in proper lighting conditions.

Please note that the colors of encaustics change dramatically in different lighting. This is part of their beauty and magic. They are meant to be well illuminated.

The encaustic medium is a combination of beeswax and damar resin (and white pigment in some paintings). Encaustics are incredibly archival and require 18 months to cure.

Each piece is photographed in low light, in order to show the most depth beneath the layers.
